Ryoha~~ Today, while on a trip to Sydney, I was looking for a memorable sunset spot. I heard about a place close to View Sydney and downtown Sydney where I could enjoy a picnic and sunset, so I visited. While the night view was quite beautiful, I also wanted to check out the Sydney Observatory, which comes to mind if you’re looking for a sunset close to Sydney’s clear skies.

On the way to the Sydney Observatory, I started by exploring the Barangaroo Conservation Area, a scenic spot with stunning views beyond the Harbour Bridge. I planned to arrive about an hour before sunset.
The route from the Harbour Bridge to the Observatory is about a 30-minute walk, even if you pass by viewpoints. Walking while enjoying the beautiful views made the trip a breeze, but for those who don’t want to walk too much, taking the bus is a great option.

Barangaroo Conservation Area is a park about a 15-minute walk from the Harbour Bridge. Like the Sydney Observatory, it offers a great view of Sydney’s sunsets and nightscapes, and is also a pleasant picnic spot.
Because it’s a fairly large park, it’s visited by people of all ages, from runners to swimmers. Many also enjoy sitting on the rocks facing the ocean.

Barangaroo Conservation Area is considerably larger than other parks, and a stroll under the clear, pristine sky naturally lifts your spirits.
Because it’s so close to popular tourist destinations, I expected crowds, but the number of visitors was surprisingly low. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views made me think that if I ever see the next sunset, this would be a great spot to do so.

Barangaroo Conservation Area is closer to the ocean than our destination, the Sydney Observatory, so it’s a bit disappointing that we can’t capture the expanse of space. However, the pristine ocean more than makes up for it. On the other side, Luna Park and the ferries crossing the ocean offer a soothing view, allowing you to choose the sunset spot that best suits your preferences.

After enjoying a relaxing time at Barangaroo Conservation Area, we headed to our destination, the Sydney Observatory. Barangaroo Conservation Area and the Sydney Observatory are only about 15 minutes apart, making it easy to enjoy the sunset without a second thought.
On the way to the Sydney Observatory, I noticed everyone carrying a variety of items, including a picnic mat and snacks. Most visitors come in groups of couples or friends. I recommend a 2-3 person picnic mat, as it’s comfortable enough to enjoy until the sunset.

Arriving at the entrance to the Sydney Observatory about an hour before sunset, the sun was shining brightly. The sky was clear, and I felt my heart pounding at the thought of seeing a truly beautiful sunset.

At the entrance to the Sydney Observatory, you’ll find a large tree, a prime vantage point for sunset and night views. Walking along the path, you’ll easily reach the observatory, a popular picnic spot for both tourists and locals alike.

Upon arriving at the observatory, you’ll find a large stone space. Around this area, people have already set up mats, ready to enjoy the sunset and night views.
It was not uncommon to see people bringing their own food and enjoying it outdoors. This was a common sight throughout my trip to Sydney, and it made me realize how picnicking has become a natural part of everyday life.

The sunset from the Sydney Observatory is beautiful. If you follow the crowds in the opposite direction of the Harbour Bridge, you can witness the sunset. However, if you’re admiring the Harbour Bridge, you might miss the sunset, so check the time carefully and set an alarm.
Watching the sunset from the observatory, I realized that this view was an absolute must-see during my trip to Sydney, Australia, where the sky was exceptionally clear. Seeing this view from the observatory, a must-see in Sydney, was truly blissful.

At first, I was puzzled by the fact that people remained picnicking even after sunset. But it turned out that the nighttime view from the observatory was still worth seeing.
Luna Park, the Harbour Bridge, and the view from our accommodation. I hadn’t noticed this panoramic view of Sydney’s nightscape, and it would have been a shame if I hadn’t heard it later. Looking at this breathtaking view, I could see why people choose this spot for Sydney’s nightscape and sunset.

The Sydney Observatory offers the advantage of allowing people to enjoy picnics and take in more scenery from a higher vantage point. While the Barangaroo Reserve doesn’t offer a panoramic view of the area, it offers a more relaxed way to enjoy the city’s nightscape and sunset. Both locations were truly worth a visit.
While Sydney’s pristine skies are visible from anywhere, why not enjoy a trip to Sydney with a beautiful sunset and nightscape, visiting the Barangaroo Reserve and the Sydney Observatory?
